The Transgender Health Alliance of Central Virginia (THACVA) presents this three-hour service provider workshop package for professionals working in the field that wish to strengthen their knowledge of transgender health, hormone therapy, primary care, and the skills needed to write gender confirming recommendation letters.

Introduction to Transgender Medicine
8:45AM-10:30AMWhat does administering hormone therapy look like? How do you gauge hormone readiness in a client? Facilitators of this session will address the myths, fears, and barriers many primary care providers face when serving transgender clients.
Writing Gender Confirming Recommendation Letters for Transgender Clients Seeking Medical Interventions
Presented by: Sarah CharbonneauThis workshop will assist mental health providers in addressing their questions and uncertainties about writing letters for trans-identified and gender nonconforming individuals seeking medical interventions and increase knowledge and understanding of provider roles when working with transgender clients. Review and clarification of current (version 7) WPATH Standards of Care (SOC) criteria related to referral/recommendation letter requirements will be provided in an effort to increase transgender access to appropriate and timely care.
